Her father, Wellington Dias, and stepmother, Luciana Tavares, were coral belts and black belts respectively. Now, Dern herself has attained the black belt status and threatened the UFC straw-weights with her supreme grappling skills. As such, she has her parents to credit for. Mackenzie Dern was married to Wesley Santos, a professional surfer. He started his surfing career in 2011 and has participated in notable events such as Vissla Central Pro, the Surfest Beach Newcastle Pro, and the SLO CAL Open in Pismo Beach. The couple welcomed a baby girl named Moa in 2019. However, their family life didn’t go the way they planned.
After numerous episodes of disagreement between the couple and things getting out of hand, Mackenzie Dern filed for divorce. As such, Dern accused her ex-husband of domestic violence in the divorce papers. But Santos fiercely refuted these allegations in a statement he released and accused Dern of domestic abuse in return. The divorce was highly toxic and widely publicized due to the back-and-forth accusations between Santos and Dern.
In 2022, the court granted the two a divorce, and her daughter Moa was given joint custody. She was also ordered to pay $10,000 to cover Santos’s legal fees because she was considered the family’s primary provider. Also, Dern had to pay a sum of $4,006 monthly to her ex-husband for child support. However, she parted ways with Wesley Santos and is currently dating Antonio Trócol, a fellow MMA fighter.

Mackenzie Dern has only one kid, Moa, born in June 2019. She was born two years after Dern and Wesley Santos tied the knot. Due to the pregnancy, the UFC strawweight put her fighting career on hold in May 2018. But, since things weren’t smooth between the couple after the birth of Moa, they divorced to go their separate ways in 2022. However, the UFC strawweight claimed she tolerated a lot from Santos and even put off the divorce filings for the sake of her daughter Moa. But eventually, she divorced her husband.
Currently, Dern and Wesley Santos share the custody of their daughter Moa. However, Dern served as the primary parent and even paid monthly child support to her ex-husband. But, apart from these compensations, she led a happy life with her daughter Moa. Mackenzie Dern’s child is only five years old and often makes appearances on the UFC Straw Weights’ Instagram page, which has 1.2 million followers.
