Glover Teixeira hung his gloves after his loss at UFC 283 via a decision against the new champion, Jamahal Hill. In his post-fight octagon interview, Glover expressed concerns about being too tough for his own good. The Brazilian fighter laid down his gloves inside the octagon at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

UFC 283 Brazil featured Glover Teixeira vs Jamahal Hill as the main event for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. A bloody fight and a dominating victory by Jamahal Hill finally cleared the air that the division was paving a new way to the future.

Glover Teixeira (33-9-0), known for extreme in-ring durability and Jiu-jitsu submission recently held the title at age 42 in 2021 after victory over Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267. A submission victory against Blachowicz cemented the legacy of Teixeira the second oldest fighter to hold the title at the age of 42.

The Brazilian fighter’s decorated professional career includes victories over fighters like Jan Blachowicz, Thiago Santos, Anthony Smith, Corey Anderson, Rashad Evans, and Rampage Jackson. As a late bloomer, Glover’s career spanned over 23 fights in the UFC.

After a bloodbath of a fight in the main event of UFC 283 with Jamahal Hill, Glover Teixeira showed a champion’s heart and continued taking shots from Hill. On certain occasions, Glover found his moments but the majority of the fight was in favor of Hill’s momentum.

Glover Teixeira’s UFC career ended on his home turf of Rio at UFC 283 Brazil. The former LHW champion’s impressive and consistent resume has increased the overall competitiveness and the need of becoming well-rounded in the LHW division.

With insane submission skills and durability, Glover’s key focus in a fight stands on scoring takedowns and attempting submissions. In his first defense as a champion, the Brazilian was scheduled to fight a young Jiri Prochazka at UFC 275. The hard-fought battle was in Teixeira’s favor till the fifth round when Prochazka caught Glover in a submission.

With two back-to-back losses after reaching his prime, it was time for Glover to hang the gloves and leave the division to more eligible and younger contenders.
