“I’ll show up” – Alexander Volkanovski sends DARING reply to Khabib Nurmagomedov, vows to replace Charles Oliveira at UFC 280
Khabib Nurmagomedov, Charles Oliveira, and Alexander Volkanovski
Alexander Volkanovski is very SERIOUS about that Double Champ status. Khabib Nurmagomedov might have joked around about a potential replacement for Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 but the featherweight champion is not here to play games.
Alexander Volkanovski has almost fully wiped out the featherweight division and in a dominant fashion too. The #1 pound-for-pound is far ahead of the rest of the 145-pound division and is currently looking for new challenges. The fighter from the land down under is ready to be put in the conversation of “GOATs” but before that he plans on acquiring the 155-lbs belt.
Volkanovski would’ve liked an immediate title shot at the vacant lightweight belt but instead, he is asked to wait for the upcoming UFC 280 title shot between Charles Oliviera and Islam Makhachev. Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is supporting his friend, Islam joked about the Brazilian not turning up in Abu Dhabi.
Volkanovski is seeing the perfect opportunity for him to get that lightweight belt and become the champ-champ officially by the end of next month. “The Great” responds to Khabib on Twitter regarding the title shot.
“I’ve got next” – Alexander Volkanovski makes claim to the lightweight title shot
Volkanovski has been calling for the lightweight title shot ever since his win against The Korean Zombie at UFC 273. Since then, Volkanovski has also destroyed his biggest rival, Max Holloway in a lop-sided trilogy. A move up to the lightweight seems to be the right option for him.
“I’ll show up to fight either of them. I’ve got next,” wrote Volk replying to the former lightweight champ’s tweet. Islam and Charles will fight in a five-round title fight main event at UFC 280 which takes place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The winner gets crowned as the lightweight king.

Charles has already invited Volkanovski to the lightweight division and is looking forward to a wonderful matchup. Now that, Volkanovski is down to be the backup for the upcoming title fight, things get hotter in the middle east.
