Fighters having a problem with Dana White is not new in UFC. Apart from the obvious fighter pay issues in UFC, White has also been accused of favouritism. UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling recently had a small feud (probably friendly) with White over his next fight. While Aljamain does not shy away from openly calling out his boss, he recently took a very subtle shot at White through his favorite NBA team.
Miami Heat recently defeated Boston Celtics in game 7 to enter the finals against Denver Nuggets. Jimmy Butler was the highest scorer and his team stopped the Celtics from getting a back-to-back entry into the finals. Despite the efforts by Boston Celtics they had a tough time making their shots and were outclassed by Miami Heat. UFC bantamweight fighter Aljamain Sterling, who is a huge fan of Miami Heat took to Twitter and rejoiced in their win.
However, a fan posted a photo of Dana White Sporting a Boston Celtics t-shirt with, “I couldn’t help myself ,” posted under the comments. Sterling saw an opportunity and asked his fans to edit his moniker Funkmaster instead of Boston Celtics. “Can’t someone edit this saying ‘FUNKMASTER,‘” posted Aljamain Sterling. What followed was the comment section, following Sterling’s command and editing his name on Dana’s T-shirt in whatever way possible.
While the feud has more or less settled down, Sterling still believes that the UFC is rooting for Sean O’Malley to win in their fight at UFC 292. Sterling has openly called out White and the UFC for supporting a knockoff version of Conor McGregor.

Aljamain Sterling calls Sean O’Malley knockoff Conor McGregor
UFC Bantamweight champion will soon be going head to head with # 2 Ranked fighter Sean O’Malley at UFC 292. This will be O’Malley’s first bout after not fighting for nearly a year. Meanwhile, Aljamain Sterling will head into the fight within three months of his last title defense against Henry Cejudo.
Sterling is unhappy with the fight being set up so early after his recent title defense and had a feud with Dana White over the same issue. Although Sterling has more or less sorted out everything and has agreed to the fight, he believes that the UFC is rooting against him. In his recent Youtube video, Aljamain talked about how the UFC is trying to build Sean O’Malley into a big PPV star. ” Like, not saying he’s never knocked anybody out, but it’s just very different now that he’s swimming with the big boys in the deep end. We haven’t quite seen these magic knockouts. This, wannabe, knockoff, Conor McGregor, that was the trajectory he was on. But for some reason, people don’t got the formula or the juice to be Conor,”said Sterling in his Youtube video.
Sean O’Malley’s head coach Tim Welch has also expressed that the UFC wants O’Malley to dethrone the Funkmaster. O’Malley winning the title will propel his fame and bring more PPVs along with him due to his social media presence. However even Aljamain Sterling is hell-bent on derailing Sean’s hype train and defending his title.
