Anthony Johnson and Jon Jones’ “scrimmage” on stage scared the bejesus out of UFC President Dana White
Anthony Johnson, Dana White, and Jon Jones
Anthony Johnson was an absolute phenom in his prime. The legendary light heavyweight was matched against another monster, Jon Jones for UFC 187. The face-off between the two got a little too “physical” for UFC president Dana White to handle.
Jon Jones vs Anthony Johnson was the dream light heavyweight title matchup. The two fighters were in their absolute prime when they were booked to fight each other. Back in 2015, ahead of UFC 187, the two superstars were part of the UFC: Welcome to the show event, where 20 top UFC fighters sat down for a press conference ahead of the upcoming season of action-packed live events.
At the press conference, Rumble Johnson and Jones were set to face off against each other in the presence of UFC boss Dana White. The staredown was amazing as the two giants stood to the side of White almost making him disappear with their size. Jones and Johnson pulled off an incredible prank that put the UFC boss in absolute fear.
White turned “Red” in just seconds as the two light heavyweights pretended to scrap on stage. The two fighters then embraced each other laughing out loud and posed for the cameras. White’s life flashed before his eyes that moment and was contemplating walking off the stage after knowing it was a prank.

These two incredible fighters however never faced each other in the octagon. Jones met with a hit-and-run case which forced the UFC to strip him of the title leading Anthony Johnson to face Daniel Cormier in the headliner for UFC 187. No doubt Jones vs Johnson would have been an electrifying fight.

When did Anthony Johnson announce his retirement from UFC?
Anthony Johnson was part of the UFC from 2007-2017. The fighter was one of the most-feared strikers in the light heavyweight division. With the feet of a lightweight but the power of a heavyweight fighter, Johnson was a terrifying man to face. Despite fighting for the belt many times, he never won gold in the UFC.
Johnson’s last fight in the UFC was against his former rival, Daniel Cormier. The two faced each other for the second time at UFC 210 in the year 2017. Previous to the outing, Johnson’s bout against DC went against him as he lost the fight via submission in the third round. The second outing was no different either, DC once again found success on the ground and won the fight via second-round submission.
After the fight, Johnson took his moment on the microphone with Joe Rogan to announce his retirement. The fighter then went on to sign with Bellator MMA in the year 2020 and contested the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix. He was truly an amazing fighter inside the octagon. His death is a huge loss to the MMA community.
