Brendan Allen has reportedly squashed his beef with Sean Strickland. He also revealed that he is friends with Chris Curtis who he will fight this week at UFC Vegas 90. Here is what happened:
Brendan Allen recently did an interview with The Schmo where he talked about squashing the beef with long-time rival Sean Strickland. When asked about the rumors of Allen being friends with Strickland and Chris Curtis, he said:
No I talk to Chris and Sean when I come to the PI and stuff, if they're there we chat. Yeah me and Sean squashed our stuff so we're cool. I wouldn't say we're friends, like best friends but we're cool. Me and Chris have always been cool.Brendan Allen via The Schmo
Strickland and Allen fought during Allen’s early days in the UFC and he defeated Allen two rounds into the fight. Strickland took the fight on six days’ notice and two weeks after his horrific motorcycle accident back in 2020. Allen always pushed for a rematch saying that he knew he was better while Strickland called him a loser and asked him to focus on himself.
Allen has fought 13 fights up till now and won every one of them except two. What is interesting is that these two losses were actually against Sean Strickland and Chris Curtis. Allen faced Strickland in November of 2020 and he got knocked down in the second round. Two fights later he faced Curtis in December 2020 and again lost in the second round with a decisive knee from Curtis. The two will now headline the UFC Fight Night this week in a highly anticipated rematch. While Strickland is eying a rematch against Dricus Du Plessis.
Brendan Allen reveals why he has no problem-fighting friend Chris Curtis
The Schmo asked Allen how he is able to turn the kill switch against Curtis who he revealed he is friends with. Allen had a pretty interesting response to this question.
Allen explained that it is a very different environment once two fighters step into a cage for a fight. He said that Curtis would try his best to hurt him and he would return the favor and do the same. Allen said that when one steps into the cage for a fight there are no holds and both fighters can hit each other as hard as they can.
He complimented Curtis saying that he can control the distance and timing to make the fight a good sparring match. But then he can switch the tempo and that is what he is good at but Allen said he will just be a little bit better. It will be an interesting headline event this week on UFC Vegas 90 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
