Buffer’s life has been filled with some amazing events, one of such is his meeting his half-brother at the age of 29. Michael Buffer, the legendary announcer who immortalized the words “Let’s get ready to rumble!” Is actually the brother of Bruce.

Back in the 80s, when Bruce was a big fan of boxing, he noticed someone on the TV carrying the same surname as him. During his visit to Hotboxin‘ with Mike Tyson, Bruce opened up about the story of seeing Michael for the first time.

“Outcomes this man. Very handsome, debonair James Bond-looking. Brought a whole new flair to the world of announcing and I became a huge fan. Every time he came out and they flashed his name on the screen it said Michael Buffer,” said Buffer to Tyson

He later asked his dad and confirmed that both are actually related by blood. He said: “And I said dad, do you have any idea who this is? I think that’s your brother. I’m like 29 years old, are you kidding me?” It was really surprising for Bruce to find out about his brother at that age and later they got together.

As crazy as the story sounds, it is actually true. According to the brothers, their father got married at the age of 20 and went to serve in World War 2.

Later the wife got pregnant and both got separated. Michael had to live and grow up with foster parents who were very kind and loving. Growing up, Michael was going with his new family’s name Hubert. However, when he went to the army during the Vietnam war his birth certificate suggested otherwise. In the army, he had no option but to change his name permanently to Michael Buffer which ultimately helped Bruce to identify his brother.
