“Worst shoulder injury… in UFC history” – Career threatening injury forces Jiri Prochazka to vacate his title and pull out from UFC 282

In breaking news, it has been revealed that Jiri Prochazka is out of his first proposed title defence against Glover Teixeira owing to a horrific injury he suffered while wrestling.

Now, more details have surfaced about the injury and its consequences. Dana White commented on the injury saying, “This is the worst shoulder injury the doctors have seen in UFC history, It’s really f***ing bad. His shoulder is very, very bad. He’s going to have serious surgery that will require extensive rehab.” [H/T Yahoo Sports]

Furthermore, the expected time out for the former champion looks to be around a year. However, in true sportsman fashion, Prochazka has relinquished the title and vacated the belt to be atbetween the new main event of UFC 282, that is between Jan Blachowicz vs Magomed Ankalaev.

Jiri Prochazka posted to his Twitter just a few hours back, saying, “Thank you for the messages. I have to say sorry to Glover, I cancelled the fight, such a short [duration] from the fight. That’s life.” Interestingly, speaking of Teixiera, he is no more in the title picture. According to Ariel Helwani, Teixiera was offered to fight Magomed Ankalaev, whom he refused, preferring Jan Blachowic instead. However, that was not the direction the UFC wanted to head in, so our new title fight will be held between the Pole and the Russian.
