“You guys know what Aston Martin is?” – Chael Sonnen’s HILARIOUS response to Brazilian reporter will leave you in splits
Wanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva, and Chael Sonnen
Brazil has some of the most passionate mixed martial arts fans in the world and they go to the extreme of wishing death upon fighters they don’t like. However, there have been fighters in the history of the UFC who have put Brazilians’ pride to the test, and Chael Sonnen is the pioneer of this.
For those of you who don’t know Chael Sonnen, he was one of the very first fighters who made trash-talking cool. Uncle Chael walked so Conor McGregor could run (his mouth). The legendary UFC superstar was not quite the best in his weightclass during his time but he sure did know how to put on a show.
Chael “Bad Guy” Sonnen set the blueprint for fighters today that putting on an act like pro-wrestlers in actual fighting promotions like the Ultimate Fighting Championship could take one to the top of the mountain. Chael was the embodiment of, if your fighting can’t do the talking, then let your mouth do the job for you.
Chael wasn’t necessarily a bad fighter, however, he was more famous for his hilarious interviews and his “bad guy” persona that used to get into the minds of his opponents. Some of his best victims were Brazilian talents, Wanderlei Silva and Anderson Silva.
Chael trashed talked Wanderlei and Anderson so badly that the entire nation of Brazil wished Sonnen nothing but death. There was no middle ground. Chael was not backing off anything though. In one such interview, Chael is questioned by a Brazilian native on why the American launched such scathing attacks on the nation.
Chael Sonnen attempts to turn Brazilians against Anderson and Wanderlei Silva
In the interview, Chael is asked by the reporter why the superstar is always caught saying bad things about Brazilians and their country. Chael’s response to that was pure comedy. “Because I am attempting to pick a fight with some Brazilian fighters. Not fighters that care about you, Brazil,” said Chael.
“Fighters who have abandoned you. Fighters that claim they are from Brazil, like Wanderlei Silva but he lives in a gated community in Las Vegas. He drives an Aston Martin. Do you guys even know what that is? That’s what James Bond drove,” added Sonnen without stuttering or breaking a smile.
“He could’ve sent a 159,000 to your country and built you schools, but he didn’t. He didn’t send you 159 grand, he didn’t send you $159, and he didn’t send you 159 cents. He left you, abandoned you, and now lives in America,” said Chael Sonnen as he went on to continue his monologue which then roasts Anderson Silva.
The reporter came into the interview expecting Chael would apologize for his past remarks but he got this instead: “I apologize to the people of Brazil that your heroes left you.” There was no one like Uncle Chael and there will be no one like him.
