Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva
If you never watched Chael Sonnen spitting flames on the microphone during his days of fighting, you have truly missed out on some of the best entertainment in the combat sports world. Let’s go back in time and check out this hilarious threat that the “Bad Guy” issued to his rival, Wanderlei Silva.
Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva is one of the most entertaining rivalries in the history of the UFC promotion. Whenever the American Gangster is matched up against a Brazilian fighter, it was guaranteed entertainment for fans, unless you were rooting for the Brazilian.
MMA journalist, Ariel Helwani deserves a lot of credit for bringing out some of the best in Chael Sonnen. During one of Helwani’s interviews, Sonnen responded to Wanderlei Silva’s “I will kill you” threats and showed the Brazilian how threatening is truly done.
“Wanderlei, you are an immigrant from Brazil. I am a gangster from America. Are you sure you want to play that game with me? Listen, I will do a home invasion on you. I will cut the power to your house,” said Sonnen responding to the Brazilian.
That wasn’t it, Sonnen continued his monologue saying, “And the next thing you hear will be me climbing up your stairs in a pair of night vision goggles…I will pick the lock to the master room door. Take a picture of you in the bed with the Nogueira brothers working on your ‘jiu-jitsu’ and post it at www.dorksfrombrazil.com.”
Six years before they actually fought, @ChaelSonnen was already spitting venom at Wanderlei Silva:

Did Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva ever fight?
Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva’s rivalry began when the two clashed at The Ultimate Fighter Brazil show. The two were scheduled to fight each other in Brazil but the fight fell off after Silva injured his hand in an on-air fight. The two were then again booked to fight at UFC 175.
This fight didn’t happen as the two failed to pass a drug test. Wanderlei Silva simply disagreed to be tested by the Athletic commission and Sonnen ended up testing positive for the drug test which shortly led to his retirement. Thanks to Bellator MMA, the fans finally got to see the two rivals face each other.
Sonnen and Silva fought each other at Bellator 180 and the world saw one of the few instances where trash talk did not backfire on the fighter. Despite all the talk in their rivalry, Sonnen managed to pull off a unanimous decision win against his rival.
