Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman returned to the octagon at UFC Atlantic City. The ‘All-American’ faced Bruno Silva in a three-round battle. After a back-and-forth play, Weidman etched out a technical decision win in the third round. Celebrating the win, Weidman’s father joined him just outside the cage and yelled his icon catchphrase.
After the hard-fought victory, Chris Weidman exited the cage happily. As such, his family, including his daughter and sons, joined him to take a picture. Weidman’s father, who embraced his son, shouted out, ‘He’s still my boy‘ in joy. Earlier, Weidman’s father used the same phrase when his son lost his middleweight title to Luke Rockhold in 2015.
At the UFC 194 octagon interview, Chris Weidman addressed his loss to Luke Rockhold. At the end of his speech, his father grabbed the microphone to shout, ‘And this is still my boy,’ affirming his support for the wrestling phenom despite the heartbreaking loss. This became a hilarious and iconic moment in the UFC.
Chris Weidman finally won after the gruesome injury he suffered against Uriah Hall. However, the decision remained controversial since it involved eye pokes which eventually led to the finishing sequence. However, Weidman wasn’t at fault. The UFC officials decided to award him a technical decision win after a lengthy review. As such, the 39-year-old celebrated his comeback to the win column.
Chris Weidman’s victory at UFC Atlantic City comes after four years of adversity
The story of Chris Weidman inspired a lot of fighters. Snapping his leg in 2021, the American had to navigate through some tough times to get back to fighting shape. Not to mention, he was hit back with another devastating injury on his comeback last year. With Dana White criticizing his performance and urging him to retire, the former champion had a chip on his shoulder entering the cage at UFC Atlantic City. As such, he proved everyone wrong with a win.
Speaking to a UFC interviewer backstage, Chris Weidman expressed feeling happy to earn a victory after a long time. Further, he spoke about the leg injuries he faced in his previous fights and felt grateful for coming out of this fight ‘relatively uninjured.’

Chris Weidman’s win made the Atlantic City crowd erupt, making the arena deafening. As such, it was safe to say fans rejoiced in the comeback of the former champion. However, he has to carry the asterisk of the eye pokes until his next fight. As such, he eyed ‘fun matchups’ with big names in the middleweight division.
