Colby Covington weighed in as a backup fighter for the UFC 286 main event title fight. If Kamaru Usman or Leon Edwards pulled out, Colby would have replaced them as the Welterweight title challenger. Colby was not seen in the limelight since Jorge Masvidal attacked him on the streets. He is now back and went on a rant against Khamzat Chimaev.

Colby said, “That dog-faced motherf**ker c*mshot [Chimaev]. He said all these things about me in the media. He had the easiest fight in the division against Nate Diaz, and he still missed weight. He missed weight by 9 pounds, and he’s laughing it off like it’s a f*ing Joke. He’s a f*ing joke. The guy sucks at fighting. He’s unprofessional. The guy couldn’t even hold my jockstrap.”

Colby Covington is looking to fight this year. He wanted to fight the winner of Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman. But now that Edwards has won, Colby looks forward to fighting him for the Welterweight Championship. He is not interested in fighting Khamzat Chimaev for his “unprofessional behaviour” in the past.

Colby last fought in 2022 at UFC 272, dominating Jorge Masvidal for five rounds. He is 2-2 in his last four fights, with the losses coming against former Champion Kamaru Usman. Dana White and the UFC hope to book a fight for Colby Covington soon.

Welterweight contender Colby Covington has set his sights on reigning Champion Leon Edwards for a future fight. Leon Edwards defeated Kamaru Usman at UFC 286 to retain his title. Now that the trilogy is over, Edwards will look for a new contender for his next title defence.

Colby Covington and Leon Edwards have never fought before. UFC will look for a fresh matchup now that Colby is back. Conversely, Colby took to Twitter to tell Edwards they would fight in July.

Leon Edwards has been the more active fighter, having fought twice in the last 7 months. Colby Covington has not fought in a year and might need to battle any ring rust before challenging Leon Edwards for the Welterweight title. Fight fans will soon find out if the UFC books Leon Edwards vs Colby Covington later this year.
