Colby Covington came out of hiatus at UFC 286 and surprised the fans by making the weight and being the backup fighter of the main event. However, the fighter didn’t have to fight as Leon Edwards successfully defended his belt against Kamaru Usman.

After the fight, Dana White who was really impressed by Covington for coming in and making the weight announced that Edwards will be fighting Covington next. But the champ had other plans and told the media that he wants to make that decision and mentioned that Covington doesn’t deserve it. 

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, ‘The Chaos’ tried to give free advice to Edwards for his professional career. He said, “Only piece of advice that I am ever gonna give you. You don’t cross your boss.” 

Covington went on a rant about how Dana White might strip Edwards from the champion position for not obeying the promotion. Covington also talked about both Edwards is not a big draw like Conor McGregor so he doesn’t have the right to take the decisions.

He said: “He will get stripped. He’s not the draw in this division. I’m the draw. Leon’s fumbling the whole time, there’s no personality, no charisma. Same thing with Marty. Neither one of them is relevant. Leon is gonna sit there and act like he’s Conor McGregor. You’re not Conor McGregor, you don’t get to call the shots.”  Covington believes he’s the biggest welterweight draw and has the ability to sell PPVs better than anybody else.

Leon Edwards just beat Kamaru Usman who has dominated everybody else twice in a row and believes he is the king now. The Brit isn’t happy about Dana White forcing him to fight Colby Covington next. 

In a recent interview, the Welterweight champion revealed that he has a right to choose his opponents. He doesn’t think Covington, who lost to Usman twice and has been inactive for more than a year, should get a title shot immediately.

“I definitely have a say,” Edwards said. “Listen, he ain’t getting a title shot next fight. Look at the road I had to take to get there. There’s no way you’re getting beat twice by the guy that I just beat twice, went out and beat Masvidal, and then sit out for a year and a half. Dana White privilege’ is definitely real.” 

Edwards also made a sneak comment on Covington getting the benefits of the  Dana White privilege. Nevertheless, all this makes the Welterweight title scenario even more better and entertaining for the fans.
