“The People’s President,” Conor McGregor sensationally eyes a role as the President of Ireland in the future

Without much doubt, Conor McGregor is easily the biggest name to have ever entered the sport of MMA, and his imprint has spread far wider than he himself would have expected.
His origins lie as a modest plumber in Ireland, having also required social support at one point, as he struggled to pay the bills with only his amateur fighting career. A decade or so on, McGregor’s success has become so huge that he can potentially monetarily look after his grandchildren’s children as well if he so wishes to.
It would not be a shot in the dark to assume that McGregor is easily one of the most influential and respected people on the island of Ireland. He has not only brought attention and laurels to the country but also has used his capital to give back to society – including, building houses for the vulnerable.
Hence, his latest tweet shouldn’t catch anyone by surprise – “A 4 year term, or potentially 8 if revoted. I could easily commit fully to this sometime in the future. When eligible. Who knows, but know this. Who else?”, “The Notorious” tweeted, in the wee hours of the night. This was followed by another tweet reading, “The peoples president, the politicians principal.”
Prior to this tweet, McGregor had expressed his condemnation of the frequent leadership change in Ireland, with a tweet reading, “Casually reshuffling leadership of our country is not only bizarre it is f*cking preposterous.” Amongst the tweets mentioned above, McGregor posted a lot many more, trying to solidify in his and his countrymen’s minds that he would be willing to enter office at some point in the future.
When can UFC fans expect to see Conor McGregor back in the octagon?
It is exciting to see someone from humble origins make their name in a sport that was considered “brutish” not very long ago, and now have a serious claim at running for their nation’s presidency in the future. However, it is also worth noting that “The Notorious” is just 34 years of age. Presidents are usually older than 40, but that is no yardstick to measure their capability.
That being said, before he can settle down into a role that would suit him, he must give to the fans what they have been lusting for over a year and a half. Having last entered the octagon against rival Dustin Poirier, it seems like McGregor’s leg healing is coming along nicely.
In a timeline projected by fans, and hinted at by both Dana White and his future opponent, the Irishman could enter USADA’s testing pool next month (to serve the mandatory six-month obligation before a fight can be arranged), then return to the action against Michael Chandler in July.
