Daniel Cormier and Amanda Nunes

Daniel Cormier talks about Amanda Nunes! Nunes is the best female mixed martial artist to ever step inside the octagon. The Lioness became the first female double champ in the history of the UFC, and she has beaten every former champion of her division.

Despite all her accomplishments, she faced a major upset in her last title defense against Julianna Pena at UFC 269. Nunes was looking to run through Pena, but Pena gave her a tough competition and managed to secure a rear-naked choke to get the victory. Nobody believe what they saw, but Nunes remained gracious in her defeat and promised to be better.

Daniel Cormier claims Amanda Nunes needs to acknowledge her mistakes if she wants to win the rematch against Julianna Pena

Now she is training from the comfort of her home, and while she believes it was the right move for her career, another UFC legend, Daniel Cormier isn’t a fan of athletes leaving their long-time gyms. Talking about it on UFC 277 weigh-in show, he said, “You stick with the team that built you up to become the champ… I did it my whole career. One gym stayed at AKA. Bring new people in if you need something different.”

Daniel wasn’t too surprised by Julianna beating Amanda in their first meeting, even after all these preparations, Daniel believes Amanda is going to lose again because it’s a bad matchup for her, and she hasn’t really accepted her mistakes from the first fight.

He took the example of Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz to prove his point, he said, “Conor McGregor broke against Nate Diaz and it was a very similar fight… Conor talked about it. Conor was very open. He said, ‘I mismanaged my energy.’ Now that’s a fancy way of saying ‘I got tired and quit,’ but he still acknowledged it. And that is the number one reason he was able to change it in the second fight.”
