Darren Till is taking on Dricus Du Plessis this Saturday at UFC 282. Till is in a tough spot in his career right now, as he went 1-4 in his last 5 fights. His last loss came against Derek Brunson back in 2021, and he’s been itching to come back ever since.

Till was given a chance to face Marvin Vettori once and Jack Hermansson twice, but because of a series of injuries, he was forced to pull out from these fights. Only a week away from UFC 282, Till encountered another horrible injury that almost spoiled his return.

Talking to MMA Fighting, Till said, “I was wrestling on the mat, and I shot for a takedown, I don’t know why I’m doing that, it was like the worst thing to ever happen to me. The guy’s middle finger, I felt it go to the back of my brain. I actually tried to carry on wrestling. Anatoly, he just won in ONE Championship there, he was like, ‘Sit down. Sit your ass down.’”

Till had a hard time coping with all the injuries. He received heavy criticism from everyone, and people even pointed out that he was faking things to some extent. Till could do nothing but prove everything wrong with his comeback.

He talked about his dark phase in the same interview, and said, “I don’t talk much about the injury, everyone knows I was injured. I couldn’t really do much for the fight, I just didn’t want to pull out of the fight, that was the thing it was back then. Now, I know I’ve got a little bit of a name and people always say I pull out, but I took that fight.”

He added, “I was absolutely f***ng. I’m not taking anything away from Derek, he beat me fair and square, but I was only able to prepare for that fight in one way and that was just a little bit of boxing pads and a little bit of the bike.”

Till has a tough opponent in Du Plessis, and he realizes he’ll need to leave it all inside the octagon to get back in the win column. It’ll be an interesting fight, and fans are really excited to watch them lock horns.
