“Beat the sh*t outta you,” – Dustin Poirier calls out Nate Diaz after his ANTAGONIZING Twitter antics

Dustin Poirier is one of the biggest names in the world of MMA – when he talks or tweets, the community sits up to take notice. As such, any fight with Dustin Poirier is sort of a money fight.
Poirier has had some intense rivalries in the sport – whether it be Conor McGregor, Eddie Alvarez or Justin Gaethje, it feels as if all of these fights have been barnstormers (barring his third fight with McGregor, obviously). However, there seems to be one fighter with whom a bout could never materialize for Poirier – and, that fighter is Nate Diaz.
Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier were scheduled to fight in 2018 – however, an impending hip surgery forced “The Diamond” to pull out. Since, the two have continuously traded barbs on Twitter, offered threats and come at each other aggressively. Now, it seems like yet another version of this has come to fruition.
Early yesterday, Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier got in on the action as Brett Okamoto revealed that Poirier was suffering a nasty staph infection and was hospitalized, as a result. Fighting words were exchanged, and a not-so-innocent Nate Diaz chimed in, tweeting, “You both get knocked out all the time.”
To this, Poirier wrote, “Come back for 1 fight and I’ll beat the sh*t outta you bruh.” For context, Nate Diaz exited the promotion a few months prior with a win over Tony Ferguson. Hence, it doesn’t seem likely that the two will meet in the octagon anytime soon. The two were most likely to meet after “The Diamond’s” title loss to Charles Oliveira, post which he struggled to book an opponent.
Dustin Poirier might have a challenging couple of years in the lightweight division
It has been said quite truthfully that the lightweight division is the most stacked division in the whole of the UFC. The rankings showcase talent from the top to the bottom, and the top five are usually stuck in a bottleneck below the champion – such is the case with new lightweight king Islam Makhachev.
Although Dustin Poirier has been a perennial top five contender in the division for the best part of five years, it seems like age might catch up to him soon. At 33 years old, he isn’t getting any younger, and the division isn’t getting any thinner. It seems as if he might get one last pop at Islam Makhachev, if he is lucky.
Hence, it would make sense for the Diamond to go for money fights – that is, bouts like a rematch with fan favourite Justin Gaethje. A rematch between the two has been impending for a while (Poirier ran out the winner the first time). If luck swings in his favour, he might just get a shot at Islam Makhachev in due course (that is if the Russian defends against Alexander Volkanovski).
