UFC superstar Conor McGregor is the face of the promotion and one of the most famous athletes in the world. Conor was listed in the Forbes list of The World’s Top-Paid Athletes in 2021. The UFC star even overtook football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Eight of McGregor’s fights rank in the top ten of the highest-selling UFC pay-per-views. Eddie Hearn once stated that McGregor’s brand had surpassed the UFC, which must have made the promotion uncomfortable.

Eddie Hearn said that the UFC doesn’t like its fighters to become too big, so they still depend on the promotion. “You see these kids coming out of Bellator, or Cage Warriors, or wherever it is, but the thought of getting a UFC contract is everything. But I feel in the UFC; they don’t want you to get too big,” Hearn says. But Conor McGregor is a standing outlier who has surpassed the organization and built a strong brand. The people take him as a personality rather than simply a UFC fighter. Hearn believed that McGregor caused a“disruption” in the organization.

Hearn continued, “And when you do – and I used to almost laugh at Conor because I could just imagine just the disruption that he was causing in that organization because that’s not really the name of the game. We don’t want a star that is bigger than the UFC. Conor McGregor became bigger than the UFC. Really. And that’s a nightmare for those guys”. The two were recently seen at McGregor’s Pub in Dublin, Ireland.

Conor McGregor was visibly dejected after Katie Taylor’s loss to Chantelle Cameron in the recent title bout. Nevertheless, McGregor supported the Irish boxer and wrote a heartfelt message for her on social media. Taylor lost a big fight in her home ground at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Taylor had gone up a weight class to claim the WBO, WBA, WBC, IBO IBF, and The Ring female light-welterweight titles.

McGregor took to Instagram to show his support and appreciation for the boxer. McGregor wrote, “Our hero! Thank you for an amazing event I had the fight scored a draw. A very close bout where you once again showed your heart, your skills, your fitness and your toughness. You are an Irish Warrior! . I love you Katie, I am honored to know you and be in your presence! Thank you so much! Onwards and upwards we go! Just another day for Katie Tay! For God and for Country #notascratch”.

Conor McGregor has not fought in the UFC for a long time. The Irish and the rest of the world are awaiting his highly anticipated return to the octagon. He is reportedly set to fight Michael Chandler later this December to mark his return to the octagon.
