Darren Till has weighed in on the Leon Edwards–Ian Garry gym drama. Till attributed Garry’s troubles to a ‘bad mentality.’ Ian Garry has become the talk of the town, with more people revealing his antics. Till became the latest fighter to comment about it.
Darren Till criticized Ian Garry for what he perceived as a negative mindset. He emphasized the importance of a culture of respect and humility in the gym. Taking to X (previously known as Twitter ), Till wrote:
I think Ian has got the tools to be a great fighter but I do think he needs to tone it down a little bit with the cameras and all of the social media stuff but I still wish him the best cos as I say he seems like an ok guy...Darren Till on Ian Garry
Ian Garry was expelled from Leon Edwards’ Team Renegade gym in Birmingham, England. The dispute arose because Garry was consistently late to training sessions and failed to embrace the gym’s culture. The UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards explained that Garry’s lack of commitment and failure to integrate into the gym’s ethos led to the decision.
On the other hand, Garry claimed the gym labeled him a threat to Edwards, but the gym refuted this argument. The primary reasons for his expulsion were his punctuality issues and a failure to align with the gym’s values.
Darren Till was released from the UFC after eight years with the promotion. Following his last three consecutive losses, Till requested release from his contract. He explained that he needed some time off after his loss to Dricus Du Plessis and expressed his intention to move to boxing. Despite leaving the UFC, Till mentioned that he was “100 percent” committed to returning to the UFC in the future.
Sean Strickland wants to fight Ian Garry
Sean Strickland has issued an ultimatum to Ian Machado Garry after an alleged confrontation at the UFC Performance Institute. Strickland, the UFC middleweight champion, publicly invited Garry to settle their ongoing feud in person following a series of online disputes.
According to Strickland, security separated them at the UFC facility in Las Vegas. The confrontation escalated after they “awkwardly” ran into each other. Sean Strickland has publicly criticized Ian Garry’s wife, Layla Anna-Lee, referring to her as a “sexual predator.”
He also urged Garry to leave her. Strickland went further, comparing her to Pat Barry and expressing concern over her 2010 book, “How to Be a WAG.” Strickland’s comments have sparked controversy, with ongoing tension between him and Garry.
Ian Garry’s wife addressed the criticism for her 2010 book. In her statement, she asserted that the book was over a decade old and should not be judged in the context of her current relationship. She clarified that the book was not intended to guide her own actions. She claimed that it was a general commentary on the dating scene in the sports world.
