Cory Sandhagen defeated Chito Vera in the main event. Chito Vera could not find his rhythm and lost the fight. Fans are upset over his performance and took to Twitter to express their disappointment.

Bantamweight contenders Marlon “Chito” Vera and Cory Sandhagen collided at UFC on ESPN 43. The fight was the main event, held in San Antonio, Texas. Cory Sandhagen defeated Chito Vera by a split decision. The judges scored the contest 47-48, 50-45 and 49-46.

Chito Vera was on a four-fight winning streak before the fight. He secured stoppage victories over Dominick Cruz and Frankie Edgar. Sandhagen got back into the winning column after back-to-back losses against T J Dillashaw and Petr Yan, with a victory over Song Yadong. The winner could make a case for a future title shot, considering Merab Dvalishvili will not fight Champion Aljamain Sterling.

Cory Sandhagen dominated the first round with quick strikes and secured a takedown. He got a dominant position and landed heavy elbows in the first round. It was a similar story in the second round. Vera could not defend the takedown, and Sandhagen repeated everything from the first round. Commentator Michael Bisping said that Vera needs to fight smarter in the further rounds to win the fight. The third round was evenly matched. Chito Vera was able to keep the fight standing and landed some excellent combinations to attempt a comeback in the fight.

In the fourth round, Vera continuously stopped takedown attempts from Sandhagen. However, Sandhagen’s elusive movements made it difficult for Vera to regain momentum. In the final round, Sandhagen got the takedown and controlled Vera for a minute, but Vera found a way to get back on his feet. However, it did not turn into anything significant for Vera.

Fans have issued their thoughts and take on the main event of UFC on ESPN 43. Sandhagen dominated the first two rounds with control time and strikes. Vera could not get into his rhythm due to Sandhagen’s elusive movement. Vera’s fighting style also did not sit well with the fans. The judges’ decision did not sit well with the fight fans. Fight fans did not appreciate the performance of Chito Vera in the main event. They also disagreed with the decision. They felt it was a unanimous decision for Sandhagen. Cory Sandhagen will now move into the top five of the rankings.
