SNUBBED! Fans furiously react to bizarre P4P list as Islam Makhachev gains ‘nothing’ from win against Alexander Volkanovski

Islam Makhachev would not be happy looking at the updated ranking list for pound-for-pound best fighters. Despite beating the best fighter in the world, Alexander Volkanovski, UFC rankings show the Dagestani still occupying the #2 spot.
UFC 284 was one of the biggest PPV events in UFC history. It is not very often that we get to see the pound-for-pound #1 take on the #2 with a title at stake. Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev shook hands to fight each other with “lightweight title on the line, pound-for-pound on the line.” Turns out that wasn’t the case.
Islam Makhachev defeated Volkanovski via unanimous decision winning 3 rounds out of a possible 5. The fight was an absolute war and the stocks of neither fighter went down. Following the win, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s protege has been parading himself as the “best in the world”.
However, to his and many fans’ disappointment, the UFC updated rankings show no change in the top flight of the pound-for-pound list. Fans have taken to Twitter to react to this bizarre ‘update’ from the promotion and have expressed outrage.
Alexander Volkanovski (@alexvolkanovski) remains the UFC’s top pound-for-pound fighter despite his #UFC284 loss to lightweight champ Islam Makhachev.

In the latest official update, Volkanovski maintains his top spot, while Makhachev remains No. 2.

Islam Makhachev fans express anger after updated P4P list
The past few hours have not been the best for the defending lightweight champion. Prior to being snubbed off the P4P No.1 spot, the fighter was accused of illegally using IV ahead of his fight against Volkanovski. Just when the storm settled, fans have yet again found a reason to uproar in defense of Makhachev.
Many fans, despite arguing for the decision of the fight, believe the Dagestani should be ranked #1 for rightfully beating the featherweight champ. Check out some of the reactions from fans on Twitter.
Know I’m on the unpopular side, but doesn’t seem right. Was clear from beginning p4p was supposed to be on the line. It was Islam’s motivation for the fight. Whether you agree with the decision or not, Islam got the win. UFC just tweeted he’s p4p #1? This is all so stupid lol 🗑️ https://t.co/E3RTzdeFbD

These mean nothing lol number 2 beats number 1 and number 1 keeps his spot?😂

lmfao that’s horrible from the analysts who make these ranking he beats him fair and square 3 rounds to 2 minimum and dosent take his pfp? that was the whole buildup to this fight 😂

Then what did they fight for? I believe it was “Lightweight title on the line, P4P #1 on the line.” Seems really cheap that the winner walks away with half of what was put at stake.

Give @MAKHACHEVMMA his due
So Makhachev gained nothing from the win lol.

The official social media handles of UFC also announced Islam Makhachev as the new P4P best after his win. Fans are puzzled as to why the official ranking list has suggested otherwise.
