Jon Jones, widely considered the greatest MMA fighter of all time, gives his version of the Top 5 list. The heavyweight debutant sparks debates among fans by including Khabib Nurmagomedov in his list.
Jon Jones is no stranger to controversies. For a long time, the former light heavyweight champ was often caught taking sly digs at the former lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, ‘Bones’ has now come to peace with his “beef” with the Dagestani and believes he deserves a spot on the all-time list.
Ahead of his much-anticipated return to the octagon, Jones sat down for an interview with RMC Sport. Talking to the French media outlet, Jones revealed his Top 5 list. The fighter puts himself in the first position, followed by Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Jose Aldo. “Those are my favorites, at least,” said Jones.
Fans were shocked that Jones would snub a legend like Demetrious Johnson to place the Dagestani on his list. Including Nurmagomedov in the all-time list has always been a topic of debate among the fanbase. Mostly due to the short career of Khabib which ended after the fight went 29-0 in his career.
Fans react to Jon Jones’ Top 5 fighters of all time list
Fans were furious that Jones put Khabib Nurmagomedov, with three title defenses over Demetrious Johnson with 11 title defenses in the UFC. However, the bigger surprise was the fighter including Nurmagomedov. Jones was notorious for debating with fans online whenever comparisons between him and Khabib popped up.
“We’ve had our differences in the past. I’ve made some quotes about him but there was never real beef, you know,” clarified Jones in his recent interview with RMC Sport. Check out some of the fans’ reactions to Jones’ latest interview clip.
