Nick Diaz being a gangster inside the octagon will be always iconic. Georges St-Pierre fought Diaz in one of the most legendary fights in the history of UFC and it was surely an experience for the veteran.

Georges St-Pierre was recently at the Pound 4 Pound podcast show, hosted by Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo. During the conversation, GSP remembered his fight with Diaz and how challenging it was. The fighter revealed how Diaz didn’t show much emotion even after getting hit. According to GSP, the Stockton native played mind games throughout the fight.

I remember when I fought Nick Diaz and he's talking to you….You hit like a b****. He's insulting. Man, you feel claustrophobic, like I just said pop my hard jab and he's laughing at me. It's all a fake, it's all part of his strategy.

Diaz challenged St-Pierre for the welterweight championship at UFC 158 in GSP’s backyard. Both were big names and the hype around the fight was humongous. After five rounds of grueling back and forth, it was GSP who came out victorious and successfully defended his title. After the fight, both the fighters raised each other’s hand and the respect between them was visible.

Diaz fought only once after that fight and was suspended for five years because of multiple failed drug tests. His comeback against Robbie Lawler wasn’t that impressive but that didn’t hamper the immense respect fans have for him. On the other hand, GSP won two more championship fights before retiring in 2017.

Georges St-Pierre recently talked about his hypothetical fight with the Dagestani in the Pound 4 Pound podcast. GSP asserted his confidence in winning a theoretical bout between the two, while also recognising Nurmagomedov’s advantages in the octagon.

‘The Eagle’ reacted to St-Pierre’s comments and while fans expected an online scuffle, the Russian had other ideas.

Nurmagomedov has tremendous respect for St-Pierre and considers him the greatest fighter of all time. A fight between Nurmagomedov and GSP was something that the fight fans were robbed of. Nevertheless, interactions such as this between the legends are surely wholesome for the MMA community.
