Rising UFC prospect Ian Garry showcased an excellent striking display in his first four fights in the UFC. Irish compatriot of Conor McGregor is just as confident as McGregor was. High on confidence, Garry proclaimed that Leon Edwards would admit to losing to him in a potential bout. In the past, Garry and Edwards have trained together, leading Garry to believe in his chances in a potential bout.

On the Ariel Helwani show, Garry said, “If you ask Leon, ‘Leon, if you were fighting Ian on the feet, could Ian win?’ He’d say ‘Yes, he could.’ Leon would sit there and say, ‘Maybe I’m a bit cleaner.’ Maybe he might argue his case, but that’s not the question. It’s ‘Could Ian win?’ I guarantee you he’d say yes. You ask Shavkat the same thing, I guarantee you he’d say yes. This is the thing, it’s like the world doesn’t know what my grappling is like. Everyone assumes I’m a striker, everybody assumes that I’m just all on the feet, you take me down, you can suffocate me. Then f****** do it then. Do it. Let’s see.”

He also has a similar path to McGregor regarding career accolades. Conor McGregor was the Cage Warriors Champion before entering the UFC. Similarly, Garry won the Cage Warriors Welterweight Championship before entering the UFC. Garry’s journey is far from over; he will encounter adversities and challenges, but he is a prospect worth looking out for for the fight fans.

Surging Welterweight Ian Garry will face a dangerous fighter in Daniel Rodriguez for his next UFC bout. It is a three-round affair at UFC Vegas 73. Daniel Rodriguez is coming off a submission loss to Neil Magny. Rodriguez is a step up in the challenge for Garry.

However, Garry remains confident. On the Ariel Helwani show, he said, “You know what would be the biggest success in this fight? If I hit him so many times that Danny shoots. If Danny shoots … I don’t think he’s had a single shot in the UFC. So, if I make him shoot, I’ll have broke him. And that’s the point when you’re watching, ‘He f****** shot, he’s done!’ You can take off your top and start waving it around.”

Ian Garry is riding confidently and looks unstoppable with his efficient striking. He will face Rodriguez in May. Fight fans will look forward to how Garry can overcome Rodriguez and another contender in the top 15 before making a run at the top 5 fighters in the Welterweight division.
