“Why not?,” Islam Makhachev feels it is “STUPID” to say no to a Conor McGregor fight

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev is currently without a fight. But he is thinking about his future possible opponents. Makhachev has a conspiracy theory about one fight in the UFC – Michael Chandler vs Conor McGregor. Makhachev thinks UFC will push McGregor to a title shot if he beats Chandler. But the Russian is ready to fight McGregor if the fight ever gets made.
On the Weighing-In Podcast with John McCarthy and Josh Thompson, they asked Makhachev if he would face Conor McGregor if he beats Michael Chandler. Makhachev replied, “Why not? Some fighters have to be stupid to say not. It’s 100 percent the big money fight. Now, everybody knows he’s not in shape. A** beating, make money, be happy. We’ll be getting more big parties.”
There have been reports of Conor McGregor appearing drunk at TUF 31 filming sessions. If McGregor is indeed drunk, the commitment of McGregor to the sport is questionable. Seeing how Islam Makhachev faces McGregor in a potential bout would be interesting.
Makhachev could be waiting for the winner of Beneil Dariush vs Charles Oliveira to see who he will defend his title against next. In recent weeks, Dustin Poirier has also called out the Dagestani as well. There is no clear-cut opponent for Makhachev, but UFC might soon announce a fight.

Islam Makhachev may be correct about Conor McGregor not being in shape
Islam Makhachev recently had an interview with John McCarthy and Josh Thompson on their podcast. In that interview, the lightweight champ revealed that a McGregor fight is possible and he will win because the Irishman is not in shape. Makhachev may be right about this, as McGregor may be drinking too much.

Recently a video surfaced of Conor McGregor drunk outside the TUF house. The report stated that McGregor was pouring Irish Whisky for the contestants. He was seen with a beer in his hand at UFC 285. McGregor, in the past, has admitted to drinking before fights. If a fight happens with Islam Makhachev, it would be really easy for Makhachev considering McGregor’s alcohol problem.
If drinking is a problem for McGregor, he is not in fight shape and will struggle to get going against Michael Chandler. The most important thing to notice is that McGregor is coming back after 2 years away from the sport. He needs to be focused now more than ever.
