Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski went to war against each other at UFC 284 in Perth Australia. The clash for the Lightweight championship was a close call between the two fighters but eventually, the Dagestani managed to emerge victorious.
Makhachev won the bout via Unanimous Decision with a scorecard of 48–47, 48–47, and 49–46. However, following the fight, the majority of fight fans sympathized with the Australian and believed he was robbed.
Islam Makhachev has recently posted a picture of him striking Volkanovski during the fight with the caption, “They called him “best striker in the world.”
In the aftermath of the match at UFC 285, a narrative started spreading that the Dagestani had apparently cheated in the match. Islam Makhachev has apparently used an I.V. to rehydrate himself before the fight. However, UFC came to back Islam Makhachev clarifying that usage of I.V. isn’t banned according to USADA.
