Islam Makhachev’s IV drama at UFC 284: Dan Hooker and Alexander Volkanovski hint at Dagestani cheating

Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev went one on one against each other at UFC 284. The clash between the megastars did live up to everyone’s one exception as its result could have titled either side at the end of the fifth round. However, Islam Makhachev managed to emerge victorious at the end of the fight and retained his lightweight championship.
The whole MMA community has been sympathizing with the Australian for his valiant efforts. Moreover, rumors about the Dagestani fighter using unfair means to get an edge over his opponent have been running rampant on the internet. Islam Makhachev has been accused of using an Intravenous Injection to rehydrate after the official weighs in.
Dan Hooker makes bold claims about Islam Makhachev cheating

Alexander Volkanovski’s allies have come forward to accuse Islam Makhachev of using unfair means to win his fight against the Australian. Dan Hooker took to Twitter to claim that the Dagestani has used IV to rehydrate himself in Australia.
He tweeted, “Dumb cunt thinks he can fly to Australia and hire a nurse to give him an I.V and we won’t find out. Cheating dog.”
Dan Hooker has some history with Islam Makhachev inside the Octagon. Hooker came up short while facing Islam Makhachev at UFC 267. Hooker was supposed to return to the octagon at UFC 285 however has been sidelined due to a recent injury.
Alexander Volkanovski hinted at Islam Makhachev cheating before Hooker’s claims

After the match at UFC 284, Alexander Volkanovski appeared on The MMA Hour for an interview with Ariel Helwani. The two covered everything that occurred at UFC 284. The Australian jokingly commented on Islam’s possible IV usage while being asked about his and his opponents’ weight during the fight.
He said, “178-180 lbs…. That’s what I think he would have been. I’ve heard that he gets up to like 83 kgs…. You fuel up pretty quick with IVs and stuff like that.“
Volkanovski lost to Makhachev via Unanimous Decision after a close battle between the two. The judge’s scorecard reads 48-47, 48-47, 49- 46 which shows how close the Australian came to dethroning the lightweight champion.
Islam Makhachev’s manager has responded to Allegations against Islam Makhachev

Amid raising allegations against the Dagestani fighter his team has responded to the claims. Makhachev co-manager Rizvan Magomedov has made some statements to hit back at Dan Hooker’s claims.
He wrote on Twitter, “Jealous losers speeding lies, eventually, this is all you can do”
He even made some statements in an interview with an MMA junkie. He labeled all the claims as complete bullshit. Rizvan said, “We all know this is completely BS. The guy is a loser. He’s salty and just looking for attention, and that’s it.”
IV salines have been banned from UFC since 2015 after USADA became UFC’s official anti-doping partner. However, the usage of IV has been rampant in independent MMA promotions. If proven guilty Islam Makhachev can be banned for two years from competing.
