MMA Fighters are a special breed, more so if they follow the Bushido Code and are named Jiri Prochazka. The current light heavyweight champion of the UFC recently revealed on the MMA Hour, the unusual lengths he can go to in order to confront and defeat his demons.
At his latest appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Prochazka revealed that he spent 3 days inside of a sensory deprivation tank, without any food or record of time. “That’s all in darkness for three days, and there you can work with your demons and train what you want,” said Prochazka of the experience as he wished to resolve his inner demons before he faces Glover Teixeira at UFC 282.
“And three days, four days, that’s not so much. But I’m using that just to recognize who I am really, and then I can start training and pushing to the next level with truly me, more honestly, ” said Prochazka who recently, for the first time had these intense meditation sessions without food. Calling the experience, “personal and holy”, Prochazka looks to redeem himself from his performance at UFC 275, one that he calls the worst of his life.
