Leon Edwards‘ victory over Kamaru Usman at UFC 278 is one of the biggest title fight triumphs ever. Edwards was down three rounds to one when he head-kicked Usman to seal the victory. In the commentary booth, commentators Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier, and Jon Anik were awestruck. Anik’s commentary, combined with Edwards’s head kick, is one of the most iconic moments ever in the UFC.
Recently, Daniel Cormier was the guest on the Joe Rogan Experience. He delved into a lot of topics on the podcast. He talked about the time when he thought about biting Jon Jones. Moreover, he even talked about the Dating Game Killer. Cormier’s topics of discussion interested Rogan. However, he was very emotional when the duo rewatched Leon Edwards’ post-fight speech at UFC 278.

Rogan teared up after seeing it again. He re-lived his emotion when he interviewed Edwards after the victory. However, Rogan was not in the commentary booth when Edwards defended the title in the rematch in England. Nevertheless, the iconic Leon Edwards speech still had emotional responses to Rogan.
Edwards will headline UFC 296 against Colby Covington in the last PPV of 2024. Covington was the backup fighter at UFC 286 when Edwards defended the title against Kamaru Usman. Edwards already has his plans announced. He plans to fight for the middleweight title at UFC 300 after witnessing the result of the UFC 297 main event.
Leon Edwards aiming for double-champ status in the UFC
Rio Ferdinand recently interviewed Leon Edwards for TNT Sports. During the interview, the ex-Manchester United delved into various subjects. Edwards spoke of his upcoming opponent, Colby Covington, and former training partner, Ian Garry.

Ferdinand was very impressed by the gym culture at Edwards’ gym. Moreover, he also talked about the growth of MMA in the UK. However, after the interview, Edwards made his intent to become a double champion. This is what he said:
100% strap season. I want to get that double champ Status. It's coming. It's coming.Leon Edwards via TNT Sports
Edwards was very critical of Covington. He said that Covington has not recently fought and defeated anybody below age 36. Moreover, he also talked about the reason for Ian Garry’s departure from the gym. He attributed the departure to Garry’s character. Furthermore, he spoke highly of the new interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall.
