On the Monday Morning Podcast, renowned stand-up comic, and podcaster, Bill Burr appeared and discussed his views on Dana White’s Power Slap: Road to the title. The power slapping tournament started officially airing on TBS with the first episode airing on Jan 18.
“The only thing I will say that I’m not a fan of is this new slap fight s—t that people are doing,” Burr said. “I just think nowadays with all the knowledge that we have about concussions and CTE and all of that … to just sit there and let somebody slap you that hard across the f—king face,” Burr added.
Burr criticized the sport for not letting participants defend themselves. “Like, how many times can you honestly do that?” Bill Burr continued. “I don’t think there’s a professional fighter out there that says that they would do that for a living. Just for the simple fact that you have to let yourself get hit that hard and you can’t defend, you can’t move your head or anything, you have to just stand there,” Burr added further.
UFC President, Dana White has been criticized for his latest venture into Power Slap. A lot of MMA fans have bashed the UFC boss for encouraging a sport that does not let participants defend themselves. Bill Burr is also known for his appearances on the Joe Rogan Experience which are huge hits.
Some of the UFC fighters have also talked about the Power Slap as a way of exploitation of the poor and needy to make bigger bucks. In the latest episodes of the Power Slap, some of the fighters were seen getting knocked out unconscious which created concerns among fans.

Dana White’s Power Slap creates serious concerns after fighters, coaches and referees mock the UFC boss’ new venture

Mockery and criticism are what Dana White’s Power Slap: Road to the title has come under after fighters, coaches, referees, and fans started bashing the UFC boss for venturing into the vicious sport of slap-fighting.
Former UFC official John McCarthy requested Nevada State officials to not participate in the sport and that each man’s support will be held accountable. “Sometimes the hardest road is the right road to take,” added McCarthy.
A few things that make combat sports so great, the art of defense and countering. Not standing with your hands at your side and taking blunt force trama to the dome, while an Olympic power lifter tries to knock cerebral brain fluid out of my ears and nose. #powerslap

That being said, no licensed Nevada official should be taking any part in this. They should take a stand and say “No I’m not doing that” Every man involved will have to eventually account for their decisions. Sometimes the hardest road is the right road to take https://t.co/e4qoGwUxMu

Checking out the Slap fight league. This is the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen. The fact it’s associated with the UFC sets the sport back 10 yrs. All that being said it’s entertaining. Anyone wanna bet it’s not around in a year?

I just don’t see the attraction to Power Slap. Feels like you have to be sadistic to like it.
