Khabib Nurmagomedov and Floyd Mayweather are two of the biggest names in today’s generation with an undefeated record. A fight between the two would have been legendary, and that is exactly what Khabib proposed back in 2018.

Back in 2018, Khabib Nurmagomedov challenged Floyd Mayweather to a fight. The CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, posted the challenge on Instagram. Khabib said: 

Let’s go Floyd. We have to fight now: 50-0 versus 27-0. We are two guys who never lose. In the jungle there is only one king. Of course, I am the king because he cannot drop McGregor but I drop him easily. Let’s go.

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather fought in 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. The fight was Conor McGregor’s debut in professional boxing. Mayweather won the fight in the tenth round via TKO. They reportedly sold 4.3 million pay-per-view buys and generated over $600 million in revenue. McGregor performed impressively even though he got fatigued as the match progressed. Mayweather’s skills and experience ultimately got the best of McGregor, and he won the fight.

Meanwhile, Khabib Nurmagomedov faced Conor McGregor in 2018 at UFC 229. Khabib brutally submitted McGregor in the fourth round and won the much-anticipated fight. This was the most-watched fight in UFC history. The ending was just as dramatic as the beginning. After the win, Khabib leaped over the cage and attacked McGregor’s teammate, Dillon Danis. This triggered a massive brawl in the arena between both camps, including McGregor himself. The Nevada State Athletic Commission later suspended both fighters and imposed fines on both.

He retired with an undefeated record of 29 wins and 0 losses. Khabib retired because he had made a promise to his mother and revealed that he no longer wished to continue fighting after his father’s death.
