UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makachev is currently without a fight. There exists a lack of clarity on who is the next contender for Makachev. However, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin Aboubakar has perfect clarity on what is the most annoying aspect about the Lightweight Champion.

In the video clip, Makachev and Abubakar Nurmagomedov answered questions from a pool of possible questions. One question was what is the most annoying thing about Islam Makachev, to which Aboubakar had an answer. He said, “When you start, you know, you don’t say it directly. You are always beating around the bush. Passive-aggressive behaviour, talking in hints. That really annoys me.”

Islam Makachev likely fights the winner of Beneil Dariush vs Charles Oliveira in the Abu Dhabi PPV card. If not, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje could become other options. There is no clear-cut opponent for Makachev at the moment, and the UFC decided not to book a fight considering Makachev is likely to headline the Abu Dhabi PPV card. Abubakar Nurmagomedov has not fought since his decision victory at UFC 280.

Islam Makachev defended his title against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284. However, the fight result became controversial, with many, including Joe Rogan, thinking that Volkanovski had won the fight. Fight fans want to see a rematch, and it looks like it won’t happen now. Makachev will fight a contender in his division when the UFC heads to Abu Dhabi later this year.

Justin Gaethje sees weakness in Islam Makachev

Justin Gaethje returned to the winning column after defeating Rafael Fiziev at UFC 286. He is not done yet, as he wants one more crack at the title. The current Champion, Islam Makachev, has a similar style to his previous opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, Gaethje sees weakness in him.

In the post-fight media interview, Gaethje said, “He is similar to Khabib, but he is not Khabib. I know that for a fact. He’s been finished before. He has a loss. But yeah, that would be a really hard f****** fight.” Gaethje admits that it is not an easy fight but points out that Makachev has a KO loss in his career.

Islam Makachev will fight later this year in the Abu Dhabi card. He will look to defend the title for a second time. At the moment, UFC has not decided on his opponent, but the fight fans desperately look forward to the fight’s announcement.
