WATCH! Khamzat Chimaev and Li Jingliang share a respectful moment during the first meeting since their fight at UFC 267

Li Jingliang vs Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 267

Khamzat Chimaev is probably one of the scariest fighters to fight inside the Octagon, however, he is also a respectful personality amongst his peers and fellow competitors, including former opponents. Chimaev is an undefeated prospect with 11 wins and 10 finishes. He trains at Sweden’s All-Stars Training Center alongside the likes of Alexander Gustafsson and Darren Till. Chimaev’s last fight took place at UFC 273 back in April 2021 when he fought a 15-minute all-out war against former UFC title challenger Gilbert Burns.

Chimaev is next fighting UFC megastar Nate Diaz this weekend at UFC 273 as the former UFC lightweight title challenger is looking to fight out of his contract. Besides that, this is Chimaev’s first-ever 5-round main event taking place in T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. Also, this is just his sixth UFC fight and Chimaev is already making names as one of the hottest prospects in the entire UFC roster. Sweden is yet to have a UFC champion, do you think Chimaev can do it?

Li Jingliang, the first ever male Chinese mixed-martial artist to step inside the UFC octagon, was one of Chimaev’s former opponents when the former fought the latter at UFC 267 back in October 2021 in Abu Dhabi. Even after returning to the Octagon for a massive 13-month layoff, Chimaev managed to put on a show by putting Jingliang to sleep via rear-naked choke in the opening round. It was an almost unbelievable performance by Chimaev as he was talking to UFC President Dana White whilst fighting.

Now, both Li and Chimaev are fighting different opponents but on the same fight card of UFC 279. While Chimaev is fighting Diaz, Jingliang is fighting former interim-UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson in the co-main slot. This will be Ferguson’s welterweight debut. Watch the first episode of Embedded below to see Jingliang and Chimaev hugging each other out whilst meeting for the first time since their fight and clicking pictures too. Jingliang can be seen inviting Chimaev for training together whenever “Borz” feels like it.

What do you make of this moment between former opponents? Who do you think wins between Chimaev and Diaz in the main event? Who do you think wins between Jingliang and Ferguson in the co-main event? Do you see Jingliang becoming the first-Chinese male UFC champion in near future? Do you think Chimaev is closer to a title shot if he gets past Nate Diaz?
