Song Yadong and former champion Petr Yan will fight at UFC 299. The PPV event this week features plenty of exciting fights. UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber has commented on the highly exciting fight. Here is what happened:

Song Yadong trains at Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, California. Urijah Faber owns the Team Alpha Male gym. He is also the biggest supporter of Song Yadong. Faber considers Yadong to enter the title picture soon. Yadong is an incredible athlete. Faber made his statement on the UFC 299 Embedded vlog series on YouTube. This is what Faber said: 

This fight against Yan is going to be a tough one. I mean it's a great test for Song. When you watch Yan fight, and you watch Song fight, both guys love to mix it up. It's going to be a high-level dangerous chess match and it's exciting to be a part of it.

Song Yadong and Petr Yan will fight on the main card of UFC 299. Interestingly, Yadong’s mentor, Urijah Faber, lost to Petr Yan at UFC 245. Hence, this also presents Yadong with an opportunity to gain revenge for his mentor. Faber correctly said Yan would prove a tough test for Yadong. If he gets through Yan, Yadong remains primed for a title opportunity.

Meanwhile, Urijah Faber is a UFC Hall of Famer who was inducted in 2017 for Modern Wing. His professional MMA record stands at 35 wins and 11 losses. Faber was influential in popularizing the lighter-weight classes in MMA. He is also known for winning the WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting) featherweight title. Faber is also known for unconditionally supporting his fighters.

Song Yadong says the fight against Petr Yan at UFC 299 is the most important one

Song Yadong told reporters that his UFC 299 fight against Petr Yan was an important one. Yadong is a Chinese bantamweight fighter who made his debut in 2017. His last fight was against Chris Gutierrez last year, in which he won unanimously. He is currently on a two-fight winning streak and is looking for his third.

This fight is most important in my life so far. If I can win the fight, it’ll get me one step closer to the title.

Petr Yan also expressed readiness for UFC 299 against Song Yadong. He acknowledged Yadong as a formidable opponent. Yan said he knew Song’s boxing was good, but he wanted to know who was the best boxer in the UFC bantamweight division.

UFC 299 is an interesting fight card with highly exciting matchups. Fights like Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit Saint-Denis, Kevin Holland vs. Michael Page, and definitely the main event of Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera have fans on edge.
