Recently crowned UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland took the storm to Belal Muhammad for his beliefs on the Israel/Palestine conflict. Welterweight contender Muhammad had shown overwhelming support for Palestine amidst the global conflict. It sparked a reaction from Strickland.
“Palestine would be way better if they threw out Hamas, and they went to Israel and said ‘Hey, let’s make this shit better’…but you have someone like Belal Muhammad who barely ever goes to Palestine…” ranted Strickland on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience in July. “You’re a coward, bro,… Belal you were born in America, you live in America, just shut the f**k up “. Strickland has mentioned a similar notion in his tweet lately.
Belal is on a nine-fight unbeaten streak and remains a win away to challenge for the welterweight title. Belal and Strickland do not like each other. Strickland is known by his peers for not shying off from unfiltered approaches, whether on or off the ring. Their interaction at the UFC PI further caused a rift between them. However, a matchup between them remains far from fruition as Strickland reigns as the middleweight champion and will have to deal with contenders from his division. If not it would have been a fun fight for the fans.
Muhammad had said openly before that he would not mind messing with Strickland, as the latter disrespected Palestine. He is a devout Muslim of Palestinian ancestry. As of late, Muhammad has ominously tweeted that he said yes to Strickland for a fight. However, the UFC might try to keep them away due to the ongoing conflict in the region of Israel and Palestine.
Sean Strickland trashes the sport of boxing
Sean Strickland is one of those entities within the promotion that does not feel the need to shy away. Whether in a serious bout or a verbal conversation, Strickland acts like a loose cannon. He has deliberated (rather controversially) on topics such as sexual orientation, transgender issues, the Palestinian conflict, and boxing. Strickland’s general dislike for boxing remains a constant in his life.

Recently, veteran boxing heavyweight Tyson Fury ranted on Joe Rogan. Rogan had prescribed the notion that Jon Jones could defeat Fury. The WBC champion took offense and refuted such a notion. Strickland reaffirmed that Fury was the better boxer, but Jones would surely defeat him in a no-rules combat. Strickland argued that boxing was not fighting. More recently, the middleweight champion tweeted that boxing was a stained industry.
The generic disdain Strickland has for boxing remains unquantifiable. We may never know the full story as to what linked Strickland to this stance. Alongside his ruthless combative style and technique, Strickland is celebrated for his unapologetic demeanor to match it up.
