“I’m a f*cking prostitute,” Sean Strickland embarks on yet another unhinged rant which includes a dig at LeBron James

Sean Strickland is a fighter’ fighter. What that essentially means is that despite being a gifted striker within the octagon, his transparency and quick wit outside of it have made him a complete fan favourite.
Every so often, Strickland goes off on a spree of menacing words, not designed to hurt anyone, but just is bras for the listener. Ahead of his fight with Jared Cannonier, something similar took place, where he described fighting as akin to sex work.
Speaking about it during his media scrum, “Tarzan” said, “I love my job, but I’m not going to go look in the mirror and think I’m LeBron James. I’m not, I’m a f*cking prostitute. I take off my clothes, Dana [White] says go fight that guy, I’m like, ‘Alright, Dana, how much?’ He gives me a number and I’m like, ‘Fuck it Dana, I’ll fight that mother***er.”
Despite what may seem like a completely imbalanced Sean Strickland, there is a lot of truth in what he is saying – that is, the life of a professional fighter is fraught with pitfalls, with not enough left to pick when the time in the octagon runs out. In essence, it could be said that he is comparing fighting to some sort of game-fighting, wherein the top machinery [here, he points to Dana White] would make the animals fight just out of pure entertainment.

Could Sean Strickland return to the title picture with a win over Jared Cannonier?

At UFC 276, a lot of the middleweight picture would start to unravel itself – that is, when Strickland faced new middleweight champion Alex Pereira, the UFC hoped that there would be a clear victory for either to get them to a title shot. As they faced off against each other, it really looked like the fight would take just a moment’s notice to get finished.
Despite Strickland’s experience in the UFC, all it took was one mean jab for “Poatan” to have him seriously wobbled, and then one more to send him flying to the canvas. It had seemed like Sean Strickland’s precise striking would be the dealbreaker, but power really is the great equalizer.

That being said, Strickland is not too far away from finding himself in the midst of yet another title shot. In Jared Cannonier, the Xtreme Couture trainee will find a mean challenge – a fighter who has knockouts across three divisions. A win, however, would possibly mean a title shot next year, given Alex Pereira will most likely rematch Israel Adesanya first.
