“The cost on your kidneys,” Joe Rogan reveals the time when Conor McGregor was at death’s door in UFC career

Recently, welterweight fighter Jorge Masvidal went on The Joe Rogan Experience where they discussed many topics, one of which was Conor McGregor’s weight cut during UFC 194. The legendary match between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo saw McGregor looking like a skeleton at the weigh-ins due to extreme dehydration.

UFC’s biggest star Conor McGregor has never missed a weigh-in in his career. With a record of 22-6-0, he is the first UFC fighter to hold championships in two different weight classes simultaneously. The fight in the discussion was McGregor’s final featherweight fight against Jose Aldo whom he knocked out in a record 13 seconds.

“Oh, my God. He looked like death.” Joe says. “Like, look at him, it was him. And that man looks like he’s on death’s door and all that flexing and wild that like your body is like you could cramp up real bad at that point. Look at the difference.

“I mean, it’s extraordinary. I mean, he’s gaining a solid 20-plus pounds of water.” Rogan admires the amount of mental strength it took McGregor to get down to that 145. “It was wild. But at 145, he’s so big. Yeah, that’s the thing. It’s like there’s a giant benefit to it. But, man, the cost on your kidneys and your organs“. “And the jaw and the chin”, Masvidal adds.

McGregor posted the above picture on his Instagram. He initially competed in the featherweight category before moving up the weight classes. Consequently, he had to bulk up and undergo transformation to put on more muscle mass and build a bigger frame. He has fought in three weight classes in his career namely – featherweight (145 lbs), lightweight (155 lbs), and welterweight (170 lbs).

Over the years, Conor McGregor has fought in multiple weight classes. Being the former two-division UFC champion, he fought both in the featherweight and lightweight divisions where he achieved great success. He also fought in the welterweight division, where he faced some of the toughest opponents in the sport. Last year during his recovery he has been seen bulking up significantly. It is to be seen whether he chooses to fight in the middleweight or the welterweight division after his comeback to the UFC.

Conor has remained inactive since his injury at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier. Fans hugely anticipate his comeback after he has been seen back at the UFC headquarters. McGregor is set to fight Michael Chandler later this year. The pair will be facing off as coaches in The Ultimate Fighter. Fans want to see McGregor back in the octagon and UFC chief Dana White has big plans regarding the arena.
