Tony Ferguson recently went on a rant on eternal rival Khabib Nurmagomedov in his latest podcast appearance. During one of their faceoffs, Ferguson did something and he now explained the reason behind it. Here is what happened:

Tony Ferguson recently went on the JAXXON PODCAST hosted by UFC veteran Rampage Jackson. There he revealed his strategy behind putting his belt on the ground during his faceoff with Khabib. Ferguson said: 

He doesn’t f*cking know, but I’m measuring him with my belt. And every single time I put my belt down, right here, look it, that’s how close I was to ankle pick.

Tony Ferguson is a former interim lightweight champion. He was scheduled to challenge Nurmagomedov for the 155-pound championship in April 2020. However, the event was canceled due to COVID-19. Ferguson recently called out Khabib for reportedly surrounding his family and team ahead of their scheduled fight.

Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov were two of the top lightweights that never fought each other. The UFC tried to make the fight five times between 2015 and 2020. However, each attempt failed either due to injuries, weight cuts, or other reasons. Ferguson accused Nurmagomedov of avoiding the fights, which added fuel to the fire of their ongoing feud. Each canceled fight added a layer of disappointment and speculation among fans until Khabib retired in 2021.
