The Aussie champ expressed disappointment in the post-fight press conference. “I think I could have done a lot more and I didn’t,” Volkanovski said. “I’m going to go watch the fight again. I probably played some positions safer than backing out,” Alex told ESPN’s, Brett Okamoto.
However, a few hours after the event, Volkanovski reviewed the super fight and tweeted his thoughts. “Just watched the fight, I definitely think I won 2,3, and 5. Surprised I didn’t get my hand raised! Let’s do the rematch, anywhere, anytime!” Volkanovski tweeted.
A large section of the MMA community is mad at the judges for scoring in favor of Makahchev despite Volkanovski’s clear advantage in terms of fight statistics. Volkanovski has promised to stay active in the featherweight division and plans to defend his title against Yair Rodriguez up next.
