Jan Blachowicz has been an absolute freak inside the octagon since the beginning of his MMA career. The KSW MMA promotion witnessed the “Polish Power” put on its best display in the year 2008.
Beating one opponent inside the octagon is impressive enough but Jan Blachowicz went on an insane string of fights on a single night. At KSW (Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki), one of the best mixed martial arts promotions in Europe, Blachowicz made his debut. The fighter prior to his run in KSW had little to no experience in professional fights and was training in judo since the age of 9.
The Polish power entered the Polish promotion’s light heavyweight category tournament at KSW 9 and did wonders in his fights. The future UFC light heavyweight champion went on to beat three opponents in one night. The first fight was against Martin Zawada against whom he won the fight via unanimous decision. The next two opponents faced similar defeats as Blachowicz won via armbar submissions.
Blachowicz went on to win the tournament’s inaugural <95 kg category. Safe to say 2008 was an amazing year for Blachowicz. After finding success in Europe, 6 years later, the Polish light heavyweight made his debut for UFC. The fighter was 17-3 when he signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He then went on to become the champion of the 205 division.
Jan Blachowicz gets a chance to recapture the light-heavyweight throne

Despite his amazing run in the UFC, the fighter’s reign as the champion of the light heavyweight division did not last for long. After winning the vacant title at UFC 253 against Dominick Reyes in 2020, Blachowicz only defended his title once. In 2021, he faced the UFC veteran Glover Teixeira against whom he lost the fight via submission in the very second round.
The stars have aligned yet again for the fighter from Poland as he takes on Magomed Ankalaev in another vacant light heavyweight title fight. A matchup that was initially going to be a title contender fight now has the belt at stake after the champion Jiri Prochazka vacated the title following his career-threatening injury. At UFC 282, Blachowicz will take on Magomed Ankalaev to claim the throne.
The fight is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Blachowicz is not new to fighting under the bright lights but he faces a tough challenge against the Russian fighter this weekend. He is coming off a TKO win against Aleksandar Rakic in his last fight and will look to continue that momentum.
