“Women’s MMA, you have a Khabib,” Fans go wild as 23-year-old Erin Blanchfield shocks the world with title-shot worthy performance against Jessica Andrade

Erin Blanchfield shocked the world with her submission victory over former Strawweight Champion Jessica Andrade at UFC Vegas 69 in the main event. Andrade is amongst the best female fighters in the UFC, and Blachfield submitting her opponent in the second round calls for a title shot against Valentina Shevchenko in the future. The talented grappler looks like a female version of Khabib Nurmagomedov in the Octagon, at least that’s what the fans feel.

Erin Blanchfield was initially scheduled to compete against the former title contender Taila Santos in the main event. As Santos withdrew from the fight, Blanchfield was scheduled to fight Jessica Andrade in the main event. Blanchfield was on a six-fight winning streak in the lead-up to this fight and has shown off her incredible grappling skills in the Octagon. And now, she is on a seven-fight winning streak with tonight’s win and looks to challenge for the UFC Flyweight Championship in the future.

Being a fantastic grappler like Khabib Nurmagomedov, she was also able to showcase her striking, never flinching for a single second in her showdown against Andrade. The grappling threat caused confusion for Andrade as she looked to evade any takedown attempt from Blanchfield. Her jabs were excellent and showcased to the MMA community that she is more than just a talented grappler.

In the second round, Blanchfield was quick to get the takedown, get the side control and submit Andrade with a Rear Naked Choke to secure the most significant victory of her career. Valentina Shevchenko is scheduled to face Alexa Grasso at UFC 285. Should she retain her title, she might soon be staring at Erin Blanchfield in the near future. Blanchfield’s rise to the top of the Flyweight rankings is similar to Khabib’s rise to the top of the Lightweight division several years ago.
