‘Lightweight division it’s a shark tank…can’t wait to be back in action’ – Rafael dos Anjos sounds off a warning to the lightweight division

Rafael dos Anjos

Rafael dos Anjos has vowed to come back soon into the lightweight picture. The Brazilian last fought Paul Felder on the 14th of November, in 2020, in a bloody war that saw both the fighters win the Fight of the Night bonus. They were handed out medical suspensions after the fight.

Dos Anjos recently took to Twitter to acknowledge the bustling and active lightweight division. He wrote that he was excited to return and that he has been recovering pretty well. Finally, he also congratulated fellow Brazilian, Charles Oliveira for becoming the lightweight champion.

It is worth noting that, Rafael dos Anjos was the last Brazilian to hold the lightweight belt, before Oliveira got hold of it at UFC 262, recently.

‘Can’t wait to see what’s next for me’ – Rafael dos Anjos

RDA tweeted, “Lightweight division it’s a shark tank, can’t wait to see what’s next for me. I’m healing up…can’t wait to be back in action. Congrats to the new champ! Amazing performance btw.

Dos Anjos is ranked number 7 in the lightweight rankings, and it might probably be a matter of a single win against top ranked opponent that might send him into the top 5 of the lightweight rankings.

Dos Anjos was recently accused by Islam Makhachev, the number 10 ranked lightweight, of ducking him. However, Makhachev has now been booked to fight Thiago Moises on the 17th of July, later this year.

Possible options for dos Anjos might be number 8 ranked Dan Hooker, who hasn’t fought since his loss to Michael Chandler at UFC 257. Another option might be Justin Gaethje, who last fought Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 254.
