After securing his first podium since Imola in 2022, Lando Norris finished in P2 at his home race, proving that the upgraded MCL60 has improved. After qualifying on the front row with Max Verstappen on pole, the Brit took the lead at the start. Unfortunately, the 23-year-old couldn’t keep up with the Red Bull, ending his race in second place.

However, Lando Norris is often known for his cheeky behavior, especially regarding post-race interviews. While reminiscing about old memories with fellow countrymen Lewis Hamilton, Norris did not shy away from poking fun at the 7-time world champion. He recalled specific occasions, such as 2007 and 2008, and sarcastically called Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton’s relationship at McLaren impressive.

“There were times, that was it, 2007, 2008, seeing the beautiful teamwork of Lewis and Fernando… It reminds me of all my relationships with my teammates,” Lando said. Norris referred to the intense rivalry that caused major conflict between the 2007 McLaren teammates.

However, Lewis Hamilton took it sportingly as he laughed at Lando’s mischievous comments.  They finished the season with equal points, but their frequent conflicts on and off the track resulted in the Spaniard being transferred elsewhere after just one year. This experience greatly impacted McLaren.

A heartwarming exchange occurred in the FIA press conference between Hamilton and Norris. Norris fondly reminisced about his early memories of watching Hamilton race at Silverstone. The atmosphere was filled with nostalgia as Norris shared his cherished recollections mentioning that Hamilton’s younger self had left a lasting impression on Norris.

Norris revealed that witnessing Hamilton’s racing skills at Silverstone ignited his passion to become a driver. Little did he know that fifteen years later, Hamilton would still be going strong. Norris admired the legendary drivers in Formula 1 and considered it an honor to compete alongside them, acknowledging their historic contributions.

“That is genuinely still what made me want to become a racing driver today, and to be sat here and fighting and being a Formula 1 driver,” said Lando. “Little did I know that Lewis would still be here 15 years later. It’s an honor to be able to race with these guys,” the Brit continued.
