With WrestleMania 42 just under three months away, a report has emerged on one of the more “locked in” matches for the marquee event. In the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, it was noted that while there have been a number of creative changes in regard to this year’s WrestleMania, Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee has been planned for some time.

If one turns the clock back to September 2025, when Lee made her stunning WWE return after over a decade-long hiatus, she went right after Lynch, who had been provoking CM Punk as part of the latter’s feud with Seth Rollins. The former Divas Champion’s homecoming on SmackDown in Chicago brought her face-to-face with ‘The Man’.

That night ended on an embarrassing note for both Lynch and Rollins, while Lee and Punk had a blast. These four veterans duked it out in a mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza, the ending of which saw AJ Lee making Becky Lynch tap out to the Black Widow submission maneuver. ‘The Crazy Chick’ emulated those exploits at Survivor Series inside the WarGames structure as well.

‘Big Time Becks’ ended up losing the women’s Intercontinental Championship to Maxxine Dupri in a mother of all upsets owing to Lee’s interference.

The Irishwoman has yet to get her pound of flesh on the 38-year-old hailing from New Jersey. As the fans saw on this week’s Raw in Belfast, Lynch retained the IC title against Dupri, who was betrayed by Natalya, and they’re expected to segue into a feud from here on.

It would allow ‘Big Time Becks’ to resume her rivalry with ‘The Black Widow’ sooner rather than later. A while ago, it was reported by WrestleVotes that the fans could expect Lee to return at the Royal Rumble. Considering it were to happen, she would surely come across Becky Lynch, and either of the women getting thrown over the top rope by each other might lead to a WrestleMania showdown between them.

The Iowa native affirmed that the recovery timeline for a shoulder injury takes anywhere between 4 and 6 months or even more in some cases. He tore his rotator cuff while wrestling Cody Rhodes back in October. He’s currently not being supported by an arm cast and is in the rehab phase.

The 6-time world champion, though uncertain about the potential setbacks that could push back his return, is very hopeful of getting the medical clearance from WWE just in the nick of time for WrestleMania 42. Rollins mentioned that the decision to clear him isn’t up to him. Henceforth, he’s just focusing on getting himself in a good position and hoping for the best outcome.

Before picking up that unfortunate injury at Crown Jewel, ‘The Architect’ was pegged to take on his former Shield brother Roman Reigns at this year’s WrestleMania. It’d be interesting to see if WWE would allow Rollins to have a match at The Showcase of the Immortals even if he does get the nod ahead of time.
