WWE Champion Brock Lesnar breaks a historic record
The Beast Incarnate
Brock Lesnar made a shocking return to WWE in 2021 and has been dominating the WWE shows. While he might not have emerged victorious in his first match, since his return, he made his presence felt by wreaking havoc on Smackdown. If Lesnar alone wasn’t entertaining enough, Paul Heyman too is back as his advocate.
The Beast Incarnate returned to WWE at Summerslam 2021 and kicked off a feud against the Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Two of the biggest Superstars on the current roster collided in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel 2021. While Lesnar dominated the proceedings for a major part of the match, Reigns managed to walk out as the Universal Champion.
Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns were scheduled for a rematch at Day 1. But after the Tribal Chief tested positive for Covid hours before the event, the Beast Incarnate was added to the WWE Championship. He defeated Big E, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley in a Fatal 5-Way match to be crowned the new Champion, and in the process even managed to break a historic record.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that when Lesnar won the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel he broke Hulk Hogan’s record for the longest time in years between the inaugural and the latest WWE Championship. While Hogan held the record at 18 years, Lesnar broke it with 20.
“Lesnar’s previously unplanned championship reign makes it a 20 year span from when he first held the WWF/WWE title (2002 to 2022). That is a record, breaking the mark of 18 for Hulk Hogan (1984-2002) and 17 for Bob Backlund (1977 to 1994) for the title,” reported Meltzer.
Brock Lesnar will face Bobby Lashley at Royal Rumble 2022
The latest episode of WWE Raw featured a Fatal 4-way match in the main event – to determine the No.1 Contender for the WWE Championship. Big E, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins were a part of the bout. Lashley pinned Owens to set up a dream match.
The All Mighty Bobby Lashley will be coming after the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WWE Royal Rumble 2022. Interestingly, this is going to be the first time ever that these two behemoths will be colliding against one another.
