Johnny Gargano attacked during his emotional farewell speech

Johnny Gargano has been one of the biggest Superstars to have ever stepped inside the WWE NXT ring. He has been a top performer – being the first-ever NXT Triple Crown Champion and has even won the NXT North American Championship for a record three times. But he has recently been in the news due to his WWE contract.
Gargano has been with the company since 2015. He had started his association with the company through a WWE tryout camp. Post this, although he did not sign with the company, Gargano continued to make an appearance for the company. He was an independent wrestler when he initially appeared for WWE, which allowed him to continue to appear for other promotions as well.
After impressing the WWE Universe for several years, Johnny Gargano’s contract was close to expiring about a week ago. It was extended for around a week, to allow him to appear on the recently concluded NXT WarGames. The contract expiry is well known fact and on the latest episode of NXT 2.0, Gargano came out to address his future.
As Johnny Gargano entered the arena, the fans chanted, “Please don’t go!” He went down the memory lane, remembering the time when he first came in for a WWE tryout. Gargano even thanked the fans for playing an important role in his signing with the company. But his focus was now on his pregnant wife.
But just as he was about to reveal his plans for the future, Gargano was attacked by Grayson Waller by a steel chair. Waller laid out an allout attack which included the steel steps and even a powerbomb through the announcers table. But now it remains to be seen that how things proceed from here on.
Johnny Gargano recently teamed up with Tommaso Ciampa
On NXT WarGames, the WWE Universe got a chance to witness a massive nostalgic moment, when Johnny Gargano teamed up with NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa. Fans might remember that both these Superstars began their journey on NXT together and have massive history together.
Ciampa and Gargano were Tag Team partners known as DIY. After breaking up as a team, they even feuded against one another on numerous occasions. Fans got nostalgic when both the Superstars teamed up on NXT WarGames. While they ended up on the losing, it was really refreshing to see the legends of the business teaming up.
