Batista is one of the biggest names in the wrestling industry. He also made it big in Hollywood under his real name, Dave Bautista. The former WWE superstar celebrated his 54th birthday recently and took the time to reflect on one of his favorite moments in his former company almost two decades ago.

The Animal wasn’t always a main-event star in WWE. He worked his way to the top and in 2005, he won the Royal Rumble and went on to win the World Heavyweight title at WrestleMania. Looking back at his inaugural world championship reign, Batista posted a video along with the caption, “My birthday is the perfect time to reflect on the past & how far I’ve come. This moment will always be special. Winning @WWE Championship at #Wrestlemania is something I’ll never forget & I’m forever grateful for all the love & support. I’m not who I am today without this moment.”

Batista was part of one of the most decorated factions in WWE, called Evolution. In the video he shared, the former WWE champion talks about how Triple H mentored him and was a key player in his big push in 2005. The Animal became the main event star of the company ever since and kept rising through the years. He was a six-time world champion by the end of his run in pro wrestling.

The Road to WrestleMania is underway, and the fans expect a lot of WWE superstars and legends to make a return at the biggest show of the year. The Rock and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin are two of the biggest names rumored to have a match at the two-night event in April. As the Royal Rumble season is also approaching, the fans can always expect some surprises at the 30-man match. Despite all of these rumors, Batista is not a name that has been rumored or reported to return.

Batista wrestled his last match at WrestleMania 35 against Triple H. Soon after the event, The Animal announced his retirement from in-ring action. Although he hasn’t shown any desire to return to the ring, the six-time world champion could always get inducted into the Hall of Fame, which happens during WrestleMania week. There were rumors that he was going to be inducted in 2020, but it was pulled due to a scheduling conflict. A Hall of Fame induction for the Animal wouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone whenever it happens.
