WWE Hall of Famer had a major role in Rhea Ripley’s resurgence to the main event status
Rhea Ripley is on the course to headline WrestleMania this year, but this wouldn't have been possible if a certain legend wouldn't vouch for her to be a part of The Judgment Day.

Rhea Ripley has had a resurgence in her main roster character ever since she joined The Judgment Day in 2022. The Nightmare was sidelined after a brain and tooth injury in May last year. However, this didn’t stop her from being a part of the group formerly led by Edge, which gave her the limelight she needed. Recently, Beth Phoenix revealed that she had a major role in this creative decision as she really admired the former Raw women’s champion.
During her appearance on WWE’s The Bump, The Glamazon revealed how she vouched for Rhea Ripley for Judgment Day to her husband. Beth Phoenix shared how Edge asked her about an underrated female superstar who “could really benefit from having a bigger platform.” In response, Beth told him that Ripley was that star who has “all the talent but didn’t have the opportunity to shine in a big way.”
Before her recent stint, the former NXT women’s champion was lost in the tag team division on SmackDown. After being a part of The Judgment day, Rhea Ripley’s stock has significantly raised, even when she was not wrestling in the ring. The Mami was constantly the deciding factor in multiple Judgment Day matches, where she helped her boys to a victory. This eventual rise in popularity resulted in Ripley winning the 2023 Royal Rumble match from the first spot. The 26-year-old has shown much potential in the ring, with her character work grabbing the attention of fans and WWE legends alike.

Rhea Ripley will take on Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39
In 2020, Charlotte Flair won the women’s Royal Rumble match and handpicked the then-NXT women’s champion Rhea Ripley for a match at WrestleMania, which she won. Now, three years later, the Australian superstar has earned her shot at redemption. In a complete role reversal, the former NXT women’s champion challenged the Queen for a match at WrestleMania 39. The two superstars would settle their scores at the Grandest Stage of Them All this time fighting for the SmackDown women’s title.
Speaking about the eventual match, Beth Phoenix had some words of praise for the challenger. The Glamazon said, “I’m pulling for Rhea Ripley. After our matchup, I feel like she’s on the biggest roll of her life.” The Hall of Famer was sitting in the front row when Rhea won the Raw women’s championship against Asuka at WrestleMania 37. Since then, Phoenix has longed for the Judgment Day member to emerge as a top star, which looks like her eventual path.
