Bianca Belair defeated Asuka in what fans describe as a smasher of a match to retain her WWE Raw Women’s Champion title. The match took place on night two of WrestleMania 39 at SoFi stadium in Los Angeles. With this win, Belair takes her win tally to 3 out of 3 at the showcase of the immortals.
During a post-match press conference, Bianca was asked who her WWE role model was. The EST replied that she looked up to women like Beth Phoenix and Jaqueline, who were not only beautiful but also not afraid to flex a muscle. This perfectly explains the in-ring style she has, which is heavily inspired by these women. And by the progress she has made on the main roster, it is safe to say that she will be the next role model for future generations.
Belair demonstrated her incredible physical prowess as she retained the Raw Women’s Championship against the veteran Asuka. The EST managed to evade getting the infamous mist spat on her by her opponent. And the match was filled with some great counters, including Asuka being able to counter Belair’s KOD with an armbar.
However, Belair was able to weather the storm that was the Empress of Tomorrow and reposition herself, escape the armbar, and hoist Asuka back up for what might be the most spectacular KOD of all time, all in one motion. She slammed “The Empress of Tomorrow” down for the three count.
The win extends her Raw Women’s Championship reign, making her only the second woman in history to hold on to it for at least a full year. And she’s a stone’s throw away from breaking Becky Lynch’s historic reign (recognized as 398 days) for the longest single reign with the title.

Bianca Belair could possibly be the next big thing in women’s wrestling
Having made her NXT debut in 2016, Bianca Belair was quick to rise through the ranks and gain recognition. She was a unique blend of power and athleticism, which is a rare combination in the women’s division. And the visual of her carrying around the nearly 400-pound Otis is still fresh in the minds of most fans.
After she made her main roster debut, there was no turning back. Belair became the second superstar of African origin to win the Royal Rumble after Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. She defeated Sasha Banks in the main event of WrestleMania 37 in a splendid match.
Following which she would go on to have an epic rivalry with Becky Lynch. She even led the team of Mia Yim, Becky Lynch, Asuka, and Alexa Bliss to victory at the Survivor Series War Games against Damage CTRL, Rhea Ripley, and Nikki Cross. Belair has cemented herself as one of the shoulders, carrying the women’s division at present. It will be interesting to see who she faces next.
