“I was sincerely touched,” Charlotte Flair recalls her WWE return on the final SmackDown of 2022

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair recently made an appearance at the Daytona 500 racing event in Florida. It is a 500-mile-long motor race held annually by the NASCAR Cup Series at the racetrack in Florida Beach. However, Flair was an honorary official for the 65th edition of the event. Before the commencement of the event, The News Journal spoke to The Queen and asked her a few questions. However, one of those questions was regarding her surprise return to SmackDown. Flair commented on what she felt following her WWE return.
The News Journal asked Charlotte about the moment she made her WWE comeback and won the championship during the interview. The Queen said that it was such an overwhelming moment for her to see the warm reception of the crowd. Moreover, she said that this was the first time she made a well-disguised surprise comeback when the fans were least expecting it. The SmackDown Women’s Champion added that she felt refreshed making her comeback in Tampa, a place where she began her journey. “To come back and hear the reception—especially being in Tampa where my career started, the whole process coming full circle, and to see how excited people were to see me—I was sincerely touched,” she said.
Charlotte Flair made her return to SmackDown after being away from WWE television for eight months. She expressed her happiness at seeing the crowd’s enthusiasm and support. Moreover, The Queen said that she saw some kids in the stands screaming and cheering her name with smiles. It melted her heart to see those vibrant kids smiling and excited to meet her. Furthermore, the 36-year-old said that it doesn’t matter to her whether the crowd cheers her or boos her. She said that at the end of the day, it’s just about being their role model.
The Queen shocked the WWE Universe on the last SmackDown edition of 2022. On her return, she captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship by defeating Ronda Rousey. Besides, she became the 14-time WWE Women’s Champion. Flair is one of the most decorated WWE superstars in the female division. The WWE Universe has shown quite a lot of support for her since her return.
Charlotte Flair to take on Rhea Ripley
Rhea Ripley won the Women’s Royal Rumble this year. As a result, she challenged Charlotte Flair at the Grandest Stage of Them All. Moreover, Ripley said that a few years ago, when she was just at the initial stages of her career, Charlotte left her debilitated. As a result, the Eradicator declared that it was time for her vengeance on the Queen. On the other hand, Flair said that she believes she has some unfinished business with Rhea Ripley. Furthermore, The Queen said that she could be Ripley’s nightmare.
The WWE Universe has shown excitement for the feud between the two of them. It looks like Ripley is finally a legit threat to The Queen. Moreover, she has her eye on the SmackDown Women’s Championship. However, the buildup to the match has not caught pace yet. Now that the Elimination Chamber is over, WWE should finally pull the trigger and start to build up the storyline between the two.
